Biography

Helium Balloon Show combines aerodynamics and circus skills to create an astonishing overhead spectacle. Breathtaking aerial acrobatics, performed when hanging from a huge helium balloon, will definitely have your guests gazing up with absolute delight and leave them with long-lasting memories of your event. Using music, lighting, and location, the Heliosphere creates the illusion of flying. The impossible becomes possible.

At night the Heliosphere becomes a giant lantern. You can choose a particular color, or opt for a color-changing one. The performers can wear dazzling colour-changing LED suits and perform on LED aerial equipment.

The performers can use variety of equipment, including cor de volan; aerial ring (or LED aerial ring); can be harnessed at the waist (providing the look of flying and spinning in mid-air); or can do the show on aerial silk, suspended 20 meters from the air, performing breathtaking stunts with grace and elegance.

Aerial artists and experienced teams are available for any type of event Worldwide. Helium Balloon Show can be combined with ground-based acrobatic acts and dance shows for an even more impressive show.

Helium Balloon Aerial Acrobatics Show is a highly customizable and brandable act with options to have projections onto the balloon during the show in the sky as well as before and after the performance which is perfect for exposing branding, logos, or messaging to onlookers. Alternatively, it is possible to brand the balloon with stickers.

Requirements

Preperation
To inflate the balloon, we need at least 10m x 10m (length and width) flat area, with no overhead obstacles. To inflate, the envelope is laid out on the ground and attached to a purpose-built steel trolley, which holds the empty cylinders as ballast. This ballast is heavy, so vehicle access and parking are essential.
Once the Heliosphere is inflated and standing above the dock, the fencing can be reduced to 4m x 4m, though if windy we may run out additional lines from the top of the balloon to keep it still, which will either be tied to pegs in the ground or to surrounding fixed objects like fencing, lampposts, etc. The load on these lines is minimal.
The inflated balloon prior to the performance is attached to counterweights. These should be 2 weights of 300 kg each for each side of the balloon, meaning 600 kg per 1 balloon.

Access
Depending on the geography of the whole site, it may be worth considering an inflation area and docking bay are located away from, and if possible, out of sight of, the main performance space. This allows the Helium Balloon to make an entrance and enhances the dramatic and magical qualities of the show. Alternatively, being sited in full view may lose the element of surprise but creates a focus for an event and the Helium Balloon can be internally lit or be used as a screen for projections.
We need a minimum access corridor of 10 x 10 m (height and width) clear of buildings, trees, overhead wires, streetlights, high fencing, etc., as an access route from the preparation area to the performance area.

Procurement and Installation Time
1 week notice is required for the helium balloon performance in order to assure availability of the helium gas (for events within UAE). Inflation takes 2 hours.

Weather
Hot, cold, and even very slight wind conditions are no problem for The Helium Balloon, however, windy conditions are difficult. Winds over about 11 meters per second in an open, crowded or slippery area may prevent us from operating. This will depend also on the performance environment and the nature of the wind; it is the gust-winds that cause the most problems. (It is worth noting that winds like this would prevent most other types of outdoor aerial performances from taking place.) In weather conditions under which we cannot guarantee safety. We reserve the right to postpone the performance.

Music
A PA system adequate for the venue and audience size is required. Music for the performance can be from our side, or can be any other per your request. We have our own soundtracks specially created for the show.

Staging a Show
We endeavor to create shows which have a “launch moment” to start, followed by “interactive” and “aerobatic” sections leading to an ending, all choreographed to music. The position of the Helium Balloon in relation to the audience and natural features of the site, as well as finding the right time of day and place in a schedule, all help increase the magic of the show. A few moments spent discussing timings, locations and staging with a creative director and stage manager will really pay off.

Performance Area
To attain the maximum value from a Helium Balloon performance it is advisable that the performance area is of a reasonable size and route. A large circular route is ideal, as this allows us the option of an “aerobatic” show, and for improvised interaction with the audience.

Fencing
If members of the public are likely to be present during this time, this area will also need to be fenced off, as crowds tend to gather around the tethered balloon. Competent stewards are also required to guard this area at all times, especially when the crew are out flying the balloon around the performance site. In crowded areas, the stewards must be briefed by our crew.

Power
We require a AC power supply to be provided at the preparation area for a small blower to add air to the balloon once the correct lift has been achieved.

Site Vist
Before booking The Heliosphere we would recommend that a site visit is carried out by a Show Manager. This will ensure that nothing is overlooked which could prevent the performance from taking place. Advance information is vital for the success of the show.
